Silent Retreat

Silent Retreat

The Five Stages of Mahamudra

Friday, Feb.13 – Monday, Feb. 16

Cost: $50 for full retreat ($5 off w/ online registration), $15/day, $5/session

During this special retreat, Gen Khyenwang will guide meditations and share teachings from the Five Stages of Mahamudra. During these four days, we will meditate on the nature of the mind, the true nature of things and engage in Tantric Mahamudra meditations that lead to the union of great bliss and emptiness.

Mahamudra meditations are profound practices of Completion stage of Highest Yoga Tantra. They are the quick path to realizing our full potential and the attainment of enlightenment in one short life. This retreat is based on the instructions of the uncommon practice of Mahamudra of the Ganden Oral lineage as explained in the book The Oral Instructions of Mahamudra by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.

On Friday, we will focus on the first two stages. In the next three days, we will focus on the last 3 stages of Mahamudra which include powerful meditations on our central channel, and the indestructible drop at our heart. We will prepare our mind for meditation in each session using the very blessed prayers called The Hundreds of Deities of the Joyful Land According to Highest Yoga Tantra.

Please note, lunch will not be provided by the Center. Please feel free to bring your own (vegetarian) lunch; the community room will be available. Silence will still be observed, even during lunch breaks.

To attend the retreat, it is recommended that you have received Highest Yoga Tantra empowerments within the New Kadampa Tradition or have the wish to receive them in the future. These empowerments will be offered at the NKT Summer Festival 2026.
