A Mala Making Workshop

Part 1 | 1:30 – 2:15pm

Mantra, a Sanskrit word that means protection, sometimes refers to a particular phrase that is recited. Mantra recitation is an important – and some might say magical – aspect of meditation practice. In the first part of this afternoon workshop, we will learn the basics of mantra recitation, how to rely upon mantra, and the good results that come from mantra recitation.

Break | 2:15 – 2:30pm

Part 2 | 2:30 – 4:30pm

Malas or prayer beads are used when reciting mantras and in other Buddhist practices. For Buddhist practitioners, their personal mala is a precious and meaningful object. Spend this session learning the traditional technique of mala-making and how to incorporate mantra recitation into your meditation practice.
