Prayers for the Deceased | Powa Ceremony

Everyone is welcome to join our monthly Powa Ceremony, special prayers where we make offerings, purify negativity, and request guidance to be born in a Pure Land on behalf of those who have recently died. The prayers are preceded by a short teaching or meditation on compassion.

There is no cost to attend chanted prayers. You are welcome to bring a vegetarian, ready-to-eat food offering to Powa or an offering of flowers, but this is not required to come and enjoy these beautiful prayers. If you know someone who has recently died, you can request we include their name as we recite the dedications for these prayers.
