A Purification Practice

How to Engage in the Vajradaka Burning Offering

Cost: $15 | Free for members

This is a powerful ritual practice for purifying the negative karma of ourself or of those we care about. This class and retreat sessions will be an excellent introduction to the practice; we will develop confidence and familiarity in the practice and purify negative karma and obstacles.
All are welcome.

10 – 11 am | Introduction to the Practice (Vajradaka Burning Offering)
11 – 11:30 am | Break & Set up
11:30 am – 1 pm | Session 1 – Vajradaka Burning Offering
1 – 2 pm | Break & Set up
2 – 3:30 pm | Session 2 – Vajradaka Burning Offering

Registration

If you are attending the Introduction only, you do not need to register in advance, drop ins are welcome.

In order to attend the Burning offering sessions, you must register in advance. Space is limited and we cannot seat walk-ins. Thank you for understanding.

Important Information

  1. Please note that the actual retreat sessions will be held outside, so please dress appropriately.
  2. We will be using the sadhana (prayer booklet) Vajradaka Burning Offering. There are some copies available for purchase in the Bookstore at the Center and can also be found at Tharpa Publications as an e-booklet if you wish.
  3. Each person will be mentally reciting purification mantras, so you may wish to bring your mala, or prayer beads.
  4. You may also bring your ritual items (container, seeds, etc), a lighter, and a small cloth to cover your table.
  5. There will be some material available for the retreat sessions for a small fee in the bookstore.

 

About the Teacher

Gen Kelsang Khyenwang

Gen Khyenwang is the Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Center New Mexico. She is a close disciple and student of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso and has been practicing and teaching under his guidance for many years. The teachings she shares are clear, heartfelt and extremely practical for modern life. Gen Khyenwang is an inspiring example of a contemporary Buddhist practitioner and is known for her warmth and sincerity, putting time-tested teachings into practice in daily life.
